About Dr. Bilodeau

Born and raised on an acreage outside of Edmonton, Alberta, Dr. Bilodeau pursued a degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During her time in Halifax, she enjoyed playing for the Dalhousie women’s soccer team. She went on to graduate Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario, with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Bilodeau found a passion for treating the perinatal population during her third year at chiropractic college. This led her to advance her prenatal clinical chiropractic training by becoming certified in the Webster Technique and GROWCO postnatal rehabilitation. Alongside the perinatal population, Dr. Bilodeau has advanced training in treating pediatrics through the Pediatric Intraoral Palate Specific Technique.

Dr. Bilodeau believes that no body system works alone and that a comprehensive individualized treatment plan will yield the best results. Her evidence-based treatments consist of soft tissue therapy (ART), spinal manipulation, taping and tailored rehabilitation exercises. She utilizes a variety of adjusting techniques in order to individualize her care to the patients’ comfort level.

New to the Kamloops area, Dr. Bilodeau enjoys exploring the back trails with her black lab/german shepherd, Cooper, as well as her partner, Rylan. She has always had a passion for sports such as soccer, snowboarding, golf, and recently found her new passion for fishing! In her spare time, you can find Dr. Bilodeau checking out local Kamloops hot spots as she gets acquainted with her new home.

As a new Kamloopsian, she is excited to meet the growing families of Kamloops, BC!

Prenatal Chiropractic

Pregnancy is a time of many changes. Your body is required to rapidly adapt to the new biomechanical stresses placed upon your muscles, joints, ligaments and nervous system. Research has proven the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care on the prenatal body. Whether its pelvic discomfort, sciaitica, rib pain, carpal tunnel, labour prep or an overall wellness check, Dr. Bilodeau is passionate about making your pregnancy comfortable and pain free. Dr. Bilodeau is Webster Certified and offers a variety of adjusting techniques to emphasize comfort in her prenatal treatments.

Pediatric Chiropractic

The pediatric treatment and assessment is vastly different from that of an adult. This is simply because their bodies are different from the adult body! Pediatric chiropractic is a gentle technique, where the pressure used is often described as the same pressure you would use to comfortably place your finger on your eyelid (try it out!). Infants are often brought into chiropractors when there is a noticeable favouritism for the child to look one way. Asymmetrical head rotation may even be noticed by the flattening of their head on one side.  Difficulty latching while breast feeding can also be assessed by a chiropractor. In order to feed efficiently, your infant must have the ability to biomechanically fully extend and rotate their neck to both sides, as well as fully open their mouths wide and symmetrically. Through the Pediatric Intraoral Palate Specific Technique, Dr. Bilodeau can also perform an intraoral exam to check for jaw tightness and proper palate formation.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Having certifications in Active Release Therapy, Dr. Bilodeau recognizes the importance of releasing tight musculature surrounding your joints. Myofascial release is a manual therapy that targets not only your muscles but your tendons, ligaments and fascia. The patient is often guided through specific movements to help facilitate release of tight tissues that may be contributing to your condition. Soft tissue therapy aids in improving mobility, blood profusion and local tissue healing.

Spinal Manipulation

Dr. Bilodeau is trained in a variety of adjusting techniques to adapt to the individual patients needs and comfort level. When our joints along the spine are restricted, they present with pain and inflammation. Spinal manipulation is an effective modality to decrease joint restrictions and improve range of motion, function and pain levels. Dr. Bilodeau utilizes the most up to date research to determine when spinal manipulation is warranted through individualized orthopedic examination and palpation on every patient.

Taping

Taping is a beneficial modality that offers proprioceptive feedback to your brain. This means that the sensation of the tape on your skin helps to remind your brain where your body is in relation to its surroundings. Taping also offers improved lymphatic drainage as the tension on the tape gently lifts the top layers of your skin facilitating fluid movement and healing.
